Fiscal Responsibility for Larimer County!

Tom Donnelly speaks out about Glade Reservoir

The NISP Project and Glade reservoir can be good for Larimer County and I support the project. As County Commissioner, I will work hard so that any adverse consequences are appropriately minimized and mitigated. With good planning and conservation efforts that assure wise water usage, we can provide water for future generations, and protect the Poudre River.

I am thankful that our forefathers had the vision to create the Colorado-Big Thompson project and Carter Lake and Horsetooth reservoir. Without these, we would not have the quality of life we now enjoy, and our vibrant agricultural economy would not be possible. We need to plan for the future just as they did.

Water conservation is necessary… but it is not enough. The organized opposition to Glade has presented an alternative. It included water storage. So, even the anti-Glade folks agree we need to store water. The question is not whether we should add to our water storage capacity but, rather, how and where and when.

The Poudre River is a wonderful and beautiful natural resource. As County Commissioner I will work hard to keep it that way.

I hope to see my kids--and someday grandkids--live in the area when they are grown. That requires additional water supplies and keeping Northern Colorado water in Northern Colorado is the best way to do that.
