Regional cooperation is essential to solving many of our most pressing issues. In light of that, it is really disconcerting to see what is going on between Fort Collins and Timnath, and Loveland and Johnstown. This is a really tough issue because you cannot make someone cooperate with you if they do not want to.
Cooperation starts on a personal level. If it is not possible to even sit down together as one elected official to another, government to government solutions are hopeless.
So, in my interactions with other commissioners, with other county elected officials, with officials of other government units, and even with constituents, here is what I will do if elected commissioner:
I will listen and engage. I am willing to interact with everyone whether they agree with me or not, whether they support me or not.
I will recognize the uniqueness of the communities within our County. As I have campaigned across the County, it has really hit home that Fort Collins, Loveland, Wellington, Estes Park, and Red Feather each have their own character. That is part of what makes our County so great.
And, I will seek progress, not perfection. The issues facing our region are too pressing to delay doing now what we can to make progress.
